Our Top Ten Mindful-Themed Children’s Books

with the mm community

As parents, many of us have been on our own journey to learn and understand the concept of mindfulness and how it can help us cope with feelings of fear, anxiety, and stress. The idea of teaching our children these skills at a young age is something we see immense value in, but it can often be hard to know where to start and how to effectively introduce the concepts of mindfulness to our little ones in a way that is understandable and relatable.

One of the best and easiest ways we’ve found to do this is through books and reading. There are so many wonderful children’s books available now that are centered around themes such as mindfulness and growth mindset and understanding and dealing with our feelings.

We recently asked our community to share with us your favourite mindful themed children’s books. We’ve put together a round-up of the top ten most recommended to add to your little one’s library today.

My Magic Breath - Nick Ortner: My Magic Breath, written by Nick Ortner, teaches children the important practice of breathing. My Magic Breath will help introduce children to the space of mindfulness, self-awareness, and balance (alongside some beautiful illustrations).

I am Enough - Grace Byers: I am Enough, written by Grace Byers, beautifully illustrates the practice of loving who you are, respecting others and being kind to one another.

I Believe in Myself - Laurie Wright: I Believe in Myself, written by Laurie Wright, follows Poppy on her journey to self-confidence. I Believe in Myself is a great tool to help children learn to cope with their emotions and learn to believe in themselves.

I am Magical Me - Sarah Kraftchuk: I am Magical Me, written by Sarah Kraftchuk, celebrates the magic that is inside each and every one of us. This beautiful book helps children connect authentically to their feelings, thoughts, and emotions while also exploring who they are, in the moment.

A Sloth’s Guide to Mindfulness - Ton Mak: Slowing down can be hard. In A Sloth’s Guide to Mindfulness, written by Ton Mak, children follow a peaceful sloth through a series of meditations and daily reflections, coming to the conclusion that taking a pause and focusing on your breath is important.
