the mm way
Here at mini mioche, we do things a little differently. These are just a few of the things that define our company’s culture and world view.
Being a Toronto-based business, we believe in the importance of supporting local. We actively promote the local economy by offering a curated selection of our favourite Canadian-made accessories, toys, and gear. We see the value in partnering with like-minded organizations to bring about good things. In the past, we’ve collaborated with companies such as Shine The Light On and TEAM Dog Rescue to offer exciting products while supporting important social causes. We recognize that there are so many amazing charitable organizations supporting important causes, so rather than tying ourselves to one particular cause, we try to support a variety of initiatives we believe in. A portion of the sales from some of our past sale events have been donated to the Canadian Red Cross and to the United Nations Refugee Agency Canada in support of Syrian Refugee relief. Any lightly damaged or used mini mioche clothing that’s returned to us is donated to The Teresa Group – a local foundation that helps women and children living with HIV and AIDS in Toronto.
In our day-to-day activities, we are proud to use Good Foot Delivery (a social enterprise employing people with disabilities) for any appropriately sized packages that need transferring between our locations. Our core values include being supportive and inclusive, promoting positivity and enthusiasm, and aiming to have fun while doing it (if our office ping pong table is any indication of our success at having fun, we’d say we’re scoring an A+). That’s also why we get the entire mini mioche team together outside of work every few weeks to let loose, enjoy each other’s company, and support each other in whatever else we may have going on in our lives (and not discuss work, for a change).
The apparel industry contributes approximately 10% to global carbon emissions, and ranks second globally for industrial pollution. From the start we knew that in using cotton (a fibre that is naturally hypoallergenic and soft); we had to ensure that it was produced as organically as possible. We are committed to ensuring that it is free from exposure to harmful agricultural chemicals, especially in dealing with sensitive infant and children’s skin. All the cotton used in our clothing is GOTS-certified organic cotton that we source from India. Once in Canada, we have the natural cotton spun, knit, dyed (with non-toxic dyes), and sewn, all within driving distance of our stores! By using organic cotton we are not only promoting safe fabrics for our little ones, but also encouraging a healthier environment by reducing soil degradation and water pollution.
In our day-to-day activities, we try to use recyclable packaging as much as possible, both when we receive our garments from the factory and when we ship them to you. By manufacturing high-quality and durable slow fashion in gender-neutral colours, we’re hoping that mini mioche clothing will be passed on between siblings and friends for a longer life. We stand by our products and hope that your little ones get the most wear out of them as possible.
How consumers (you!) can get involved
You may ask, What can I do? The answer is simple. Do you have any old mini mioche clothing lying around that your little one has outgrown, but have no one to pass it along to? Bring it back to us! Either of our brick-and-mortar locations will happily accept worn mini mioche clothing, or you can mail it back to us:
11 - 58 Wade Avenue
All worn or lightly damaged mini mioche clothing will be donated to The Teresa Group. We’re all living on this planet together, so let’s do what we can to leave it a wonderful place for our little ones to inherit.
